Need Experienced Insight

An Arboreal snake species has been on my reptile wishlist for a while now and after looking at prices I’ve found that the Amazon Tree Boa is the most affordable of those options for my budget.

I’ve only been able to find and research surface-level information on these snakes however and I would love to know the bad and good sides to owning this species. As for what I am aware of is that they are an intermediate level snake and I am perfectly fine with that, I’m no stranger to it. I as of right now do not consider breeding ATB’s, just looking into having one as a unique pet and possibly setting up a nice vivarium to house it in.

I currently have a vertical 40gal terrarium in storage right now and I want to know if this is an acceptable size enclosure to grow out a juvenile ATB. I would also like to know what is an appropriate feeding schedule for this species and size/type of prey they should eat as I’ve heard pretty mixed opinions on this and feel unsure of what I should trust.

As for handling I am very aware they are a nervous species and I don’t plan on handling excessively unless needed or to socialize every so often to prevent stress as much as possible. My biggest concern is if their bite is as bad as a Green Tree Python’s, seeing and hearing about that species’ bite does not seem pleasant… I can tolerate a bite but not one that nasty.

These are just some of the things I hope to have an understanding of before dedicating to building up an enclosure and bringing one home. If anyone has any tips I haven’t covered I’d love to hear them! Thank y’all!

One more thing I’d like to add is to ask what the most common issues are for owning this species, meaning medically or physically.
