I got her a couple days ago she about 2-3 year she was being feed every 2 months I was told she a hypo can anyone help me identify her
Hypo looks accurate. Hard to tell her overall size without anything for scale, but feeding once every 2 months is WAY too little, and her body condition does look subpar imo, with the way her spine is plainly visible and body shape triangular. Boas should have more of a squarish/“bread loaf” shape to their body. Based on this image alone, I’d bump her up to getting fed once every other week until she’s in better condition.
I agree with @emfraise Feeding a boa every 2 months is not ideal. Monthly feeding imho is WAY better. The size of the rodent can be adjusted accordingly. Feeding every 2 months is just a maintenance feeding, again imho……
Ok thank you so much very helpful I’m gunna feed her again once she sheds
@zuse
Yes your boa is a hypo boas, which is short for hypomelanistic boa. She is under weight. Bump her feeding up to ever 3 or 4 weeks for now. After 3 or 4 feeding change it to every 18 days. You don’t want to shock her system because she has been under feed for so long.
Don’t handle her of at least 3 day after she has eaten.
From your picture I would say it looks to be a small rat I would feed your boa. The rat should be the same size as the thickest part of her body.
Do not feed live prey to your boa. Feed pre killed. Or best would be frozen thawed prey.
Yea I gave her a small rat already on the second day I got her but she shedding so I’ll have to wait till she finish thank you so much for the advice if you got anymore advice please share
