Need help respond quicka

my crested gecko has a stuck shed for 2 weeks, pls share tips to help!!!

Making sure humidity is on point is the first step, for the stuff that’s already stuck, you can try and give him a soak (small plastic box with holes for air and wet paper towels) for 10 minutes or so, and then try and see if you can get it off with a cotton bud

i tried that method but it did not work, any others?

@autumngeckos’s method should have been helpful. You should repeat the process a couple times. Where is the stuck shed on your gecko’s body anyway?

Yep! Its probably going to take a few tries to get the stuck shed off. Whats the humidity in the enclosure?

Also please tell us where the shed is stuck or post a photo.

Depending on where the skin is stuck is important to know. For example around the eyes or mouth can be a sign of mouth rot or a vitamin deficiency

its everywhere but his head

sure, I’ll get you a photo asap

I’ve done it five times, nothing but him pooping everywhere tho

Yes definitely please provide pictures. I have never had this situation with a crestie. My room humidity is perfect for a crestie. If this shed is all over his body something else must be going on besides stuck shed!

tell me if you need anymore

if the pictures are blurry, I’m sorry, my phone has a hard time focusing

one way I know the shed is stuck is that his feet aren’t grippy, and he slips outa my hand whenever he jumps on me. DISCLAIMER: I don’t take my geckos out and handle them while they are shedding, he normally does a giant spiderman jump from his high coconut hide to my hand.

Its a little bit hard to tell but I’m not seeing stuck shed anywhere on your Crestie.

This doesn’t always mean there is stuck shed, sometimes their feet just aren’t “sticky”- though this sometimes may elude to lower humidity than what is suitable. If there was stuck shed on the toes/toe pads you’ll definitely see it, it will be white flaky skin that typically will get stuck around the toes or claws. It will also appear the same on any other part of the body.

I’ve had Geckos with non-sticky feet before usually during the winter months when its quite dry in the house from the heater. What I did for them if letting them sit on a wet paper towel in a container didn’t work is wetting my hands and arms and letting the geckos just walk over them for a little while, it worked often for me.

the pictures arent an accurate representation of what he rlly looks like, on his neck you can see skin, and his body looks as it does when he sheds, less vibrant than usual.

I trust your judgment on that, I know photos don’t always represent what someone can see in person.

How long are you usually keeping your CG on a damp paper towel? I’d reccomend at least 15-20 minutes per session in a ventilated container (you could use a tupperware box with holes poked into the lid and sides, it holds humidity in really well) and monitor your Gecko while they get their own personal “sauna” lol.

Just make sure that the water doesn’t get above lukewarm when soaking the paper towel. Keep doing this 1-2x a day and take a wet q-tip afterwards and gently rub it over any spots you may notice stuck shed, and if its on the bottom of the feet just let their feet rest on the q-tip and very gently roll it.

He doesn’t look wrinkly or anything. Maybe his left knee? and possibly the back part of his tail? I think you might be imagining things? I don’t want to make light of this but I really don’t see any major issues?

I can clearly in between his toes and I don’t see any signs of stuck shed……

yes, i used a tupperware container, made sure the damp towel wasnt to hot or too cold, and monitored for 18 minutes. i also tried the q-tip, nothing is working.

I personally think that’s a quick accusation, as I can clearly see and do not have eye issues, thank you.
