Totally agree with @t_h_wyman. I was once an “accidental” boa breeder due to my idiocy and it was a mess. Included in my collection are 20 ball pythons. I gave one of my boys to a dear friend of mine who is a responsible breeder. He had a perfect match female for my boy so I did it to help him out and now I have a gorgeous multi gene little baby boy as a result of that pairing. No muss no fuss because my friend did all the work. And believe me breeding is a lot of work. I have no intention of breeding him, or any of my collection, myself.
One thing T H did not mention is a top priority of having a reputable exotic/reptile vet at the ready for such things as egg binding, problem feeders, humane euthanasia if needed, etc. As a matter of fact you should already have such a vet lined up since you own a reptile.
