New 120gal Beardie enclosure build has begun!

Me and my Hubby have a new enclosure for our Beardie Mirage!

Starting off with building up some fake rock ledges (thanks to @kabre for sharing that guide! Its been super helpful! )

Hopefully it will be done by the end of the week and ready next week for transfer. I’ll share more updates in the replies as progress is made.

First here is the rough draft sketch

That’s a nice enclosure Christina! Does it have a screen top? Or is it front opening? I can’t tell……

It does have a screen top. And it has glass sliding doors but they are currently put away while I do work on the enclosure.

Its a 120gal enclosure from Dubia.com!

Progress has ended up being a bit slow. Other things came up this week so all I’ve gotten done since the first post is the 2nd ledge construction

Also all my mind can think of when I mix the grout with water to coat the Styrofoam is how much it looks like a good cup of chocolate milk :joy::rofl: is it just me that thinks that?? lol

Nope but it actually looks like hot chocolate needing a bunch of marshmallows and a drizzle of Bailey’s Irish Cream……

I was thinking it looked more like a latte. :joy:

This is looking so good! Now you’re making me want to try my hand at making a cool rock hide out of foam and grout.

How easy is it to clean the finished product? I realize it’s textured, so it will have some nooks and crannies for stuff to get stuck in, but it’s sealed and can be cleaned with water, right? Just trying to decide if it would even be worth the effort for my boa, aka Princess Poop Painter.

oh my monkey brain would sooo drink this by accident, hahaha

I mixed mine much thicker so it was like unruly cake batter. Yours looks so much better behaved!

If you do, I’d cover it with many layers of polycrylic, maybe 3-4. Our rocks using this technique have weathered ball python poops and they are waterproof and sealed so they can be sterilized with f10 or bleach. Also the extra polycrilic adds extra stability-- grout by itself can be brittle.

(hope you don’t mind me butting in here, cmsreptiles!)
