I recently got a boa from a pet shop since they wernt providing good care and fully thought he was a python. I’ve tried looking on here to figure out his morph(s) and I’ve found ones similar to him but there’s always big differences between him and others. I don’t plan on breeding him ever but I’m big into learning snake genetics and would love knowing what he is. Other details are lots of small black spots on his scales, he has a very pink belly and a broken head spear just in front of his eyes.

Thats really unfortunate 
This little one is very thin and dehydrated as well, I reccomend a shallow bath for about 15 minutes (about a 3rd up the body) so that he can get a good drink.
I can’t really tell the true size of the Boa in that picture alone but he looks young, has he had any meals for you yet at all?
As far as his morph he appears to be a Hypo maybe Jungle? I’m terrible with Boa morphs so take that guess with a grain of sand…

I’ve had him about 3 weeks and, he had mites from the store so he’s been getting daily baths along with minimal handling. He has ate with me, his feed response was really good considering the store said he was on a 6 month strike, turns out they were trying to feed him live. He had a small frozen thaw rat and immediately took it. Also he’s near 5 feet from my recent measurements and I’m already planning on trying medium rats here in a month since he’s currently in shed. And I’ve looked over jungles and that’s my best guess without genetic testing but still thank you very much.

Since he is so thin I’m sure medium rats may be too large for him even in a month. I would go with small for a couple of months and let him grow into the mediums. If Tom pops in here he may agree with the mediums with no wait….

He is very thin I would not feed him medium rat stay with small rats for now. You don’t want him to regurgitate the rat. The rat should be no bigger than the widest part of his body.
He is a hypo boa but I don’t see jungle in him. His striped tail can be just from other localities like leopard boa. I have produced striped tail boas that have no jungle in them. Hypo boas can produce stripes to.
You can even make striped patterns on boas by keeping the gravid female boa on high heat when babies are developing there colors.

Thank you very much, I’ll keep him on small until he’s bigger and I’ll try your mite recommendations. And as for regular hypos having tails like him I didn’t know and i appreciate your opinion on him and what to do for him.
