New cage and low temps

I recently upgraded my boys enclosure to a Kages 4x2x2, with a herpstat 2, and an 80W radiant heat panel from reptile basics. My house sits around 70-72 and it’s struggling to maintain heat and is at 100% all the time. The probe sits near substrate level and the govees are showing a high of 87 during the day in the hot side and 85 at night and the heat gun is showing 88 in front of his hide. I also have a piece of slate on top of his warm hide which reptile basics suggested. From the research I’ve done the 80W should have been enough but it’s not. I’ve also seen that if I get the 120W it will be too big. Do I add a deep heat projector in a cage? Or a heat mat?

What temperature are you trying to achieve?

The temps you listed on the warm side of your enclosure actually sit right at the golden area for Ball Pythons (~86°F) so I don’t see any reason why more heat is needed.

From what I know and have heard is the hot side should be 88-90 and cool side 78-80 which is what his previous tank was at. It’s not far off but since we’re in summer and it gets colder in the winter I’m sure I’ll need another heat source anyways.
