When you are logged in, the update sections (blog and community) show up on the first page like before, because we want our regular users to be aware of changes.
If you are accustomed to jumping into a category using the Categories section, there is a faster way. In desktop, you’ll see a new button “Browse by Category”. In mobile, you can click the search icon (as pictured), and click “Browse by Category”. The upcoming app will have a top level button just like desktop.

It looks nice and I’m glad to see blog posts more prominently displayed, although it does lose some of the ‘cleanness’ of the previous design. The only complaint I have as a mobile user is that it now takes additional clicks and more scrolling to get to the category I want to browse (in this case, corn snakes).
This only appears this way for logged in users, to make the community more eye catching and encourage discussion from buyers and sellers.
For logged out users the community and blog posts appear further down.
Regarding categories, have you tried using the 2 click method recommended in the blog above? I believe this is faster than the old way of finding the category picture to click on.
