The Genesis Gene Project began in 2020, when the original male was imported by BPM Reptiles from the US, initially believed to be a Cypress Combination.
After producing several clutches, however, we began to realise that there was no Cypress present. Instead, the offspring displayed characteristics of something completely different and previously unidentified.
As we produced additional clutches and our holdbacks matured, we noticed a distinct colour-enhancing effect that became more pronounced with age. When combined with Pied, the gene also appeared to have a noticeable darkening effect.
Through selective breeding, we successfully produced the base gene in combination with:
Visual Clown
Het Clown
Pied
Various Clown and Crypton combinations
In 2025, we successfully produced Super forms with Crypton and Pastel in the mix. Unfortunately, those animals did not survive.
In 2026, we are working to reproduce the Super form, with the additional goal of producing the Ultramel version of the gene.
Identifying Characteristics
The Genesis base gene displays several distinctive characteristics:
Granite-style alien heads
A slightly disrupted pattern
Richer and enhanced coloration, which becomes more prominent with age
A distinctive head stamp
Darker outlines around the eye stripes and alien heads
An elongated dorsal stripe running along the top of the back and continuing toward the tip of the tail
These characteristics, combined with the gene’s colour-enhancing and pattern-altering effects, help distinguish Genesis from other known genes and combinations.
