Hello all! I’m new to the community and new to keeping reptiles. I’m a life long animal lover who lives on a farm with lots of them. We have dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, sheep, horses, and an adorable donkey named Jackson. I’ve always wanted a snake, but the timing has never been right until now. After a close call, I was reminded of how precious time is and I’m celebrating by diving right in.
I purchased Noodle a few weeks ago from @caryl with BrightHope Snakes - if you haven’t checked her out, do yourself a favor and do so now! Caryl has been wonderfully helping me behind the scenes to prepare for and welcome Noodle into our family. But now that I’m aware of the community page, I thought maybe I should join, if for no other reason than to give Caryl a break on my many newbie questions!
So, without further ado, here’s Noodle! (And yes, that is his name. It was a nickname that stuck - his full name is longer, funnier, and full of family ties)
Thanks! I think he’s super handsome, but I know I’m bias. And yes, Caryl definitely has “the eye”. Not to mention the insights, she is truly a wealth of information!
Welcome to the community here, @hb24! I know you are going to love it. Thanks for the kind words about me and my snakes!
This made me laugh! People do say it’s hard to stop at one! And Olivia is right, there are some fantastic breeders here, including the ones who bid you welcome before me.
Welcome @hb24 Hearher! So glad you decided to join the group! Noodle is a cutie! His setup is quite unique as well! @caryl Caryl is a very special lady. She is just one example of the many good people here.
However there should be a warning that comes with joining this community: Not Responsible for the number of reptiles you just might end up with…….
There really should be a warning on this… it’s addictive! And there are so many colorful morphs out there that it almost feels wrong to just pick one. But I’m glad I got the Noodle I chose. He’s quite handsome and I’m hoping his incredibly calm demeanor will pull my husband into the hobby with me. It’s a longshot - he’s not a reptile person, but he’s appeasing me with Noodle for now. And I’m just in the planning phase of #2… for now
Bit late to the corn snake welcome party, but welcome! I think as others have mentioned, that first snake tends to be a bit of a gateway to more. If you’re looking to get your hubs more comfortable with reptiles, I’d suggest taking him to a local reptile expo if you have any around. It’s a great place to see what’s around, talk to others, and gain more insight. Then who knows, maybe he’ll cave for another (or more).
