I have snow idea what I’m looking at here…
That was so horrible that I don’t even know what I am typing. I am still laughing as I post this
Grooooaannnn!
That’s terrible, Jess.
Puns aside, I truly have no clue what is going on with these hatchlings. Pineapple & Chipmunk’s little ones now all have the possibility of homo/het Charcoal (how in the WORLD do you sus out what is a Snow vs. Snow Het Palmetto vs. Charcoal Snow vs. Charcoal Snow Het Palmetto?!) and Azula’s kiddos could be multi-sired AND they have some odd colors coming up. Heck, some are even experiencing color/pattern loss on the head!
I’m just…So frustrated yet intrigued.
Um. Sorry. No clue, apart from eventual breeding trials? Unless RGI gets those corn snake genetic tests going, I don’t really know.
That is what I thought. I’ve been looking at the few pictures I can find of Charcoal Snows and it’s just a mess. I can’t even tell if any of the Aneries are Anery or Carbon. Just a hot mess and they’ll have to be sold as merely what I can identify. So much for an easy start.
Lol yep. Fun stuff, innit? I’m continually scratching my head with my babies this year. For one thing, all the Snows in Allstar and Aria’s clutch are now displaying Red Factor including Heart’s Delight, who didn’t initially seem to be RF. Almost all of Beau and Sunlight’s babies are showing Halo, and I’m suspicious of the rest. Peach is taking a bit longer to soar in some for ID, and I’m seriously unclear about the Butters’ being Peach or not. And there’s some interesting color on Flair. So.
Yeah, fun, innit?
Need to get some updates posted.
Sounds like you’ve got just as many stumpers as I do! I’ll have to take new photos of everyone this next week, we’re supposed to get some crazy unseasonably warm (61ºF!) weather. There’s stuff that doesn’t even make sense in my lines, I’ve been chatting with other breeders constantly hoping someone has the answers, but nothing yet.
So have we figured out what the fantastical Leaky is lol
Not really.
There’s gonna be breeding tests going forward involving both her parents, because the “normals” from the clutch do not look normal, either.
By the way, here’s a new Dewy photo!
She is so pink!!! My goodness, so beautiful. Love her Jess.
I just wish I could get her yellows to show up better with indoor lighting. She’s just getting brighter with time! Thankfully this year’s hatchlings don’t seem to be going for the Cornaconda growth rate…Yet.
As we’ve said, it probably has to do with some of that Florida sun
Well, I shipped out the beautiful Lavender girl Val yesterday. She has made it safely to her new home in Florida! I’m gonna miss her, she was so pretty! Now since shipping has closed here (weather/holidays) the focus moves to the two Tesseras that will be leaving at some point, and growing the rest of the '23 babies up in prep for next year.
Missed the window of daylight I needed for proper photos, but tried to get a few of some of the babies. Almost none turned out, save these of Firecracker (yes, she’s a bit tinted by the sun):
She’s by far the lightest of all the supposed Aneries, most likey Het Palmetto, not sure what else.
She’s VERY light! Pretty girl, whatever is happening.
I’m wondering if she’ll be like her dad, lighter as a juvenile and then darkening as an adult. I just wish I had an explanation for why she’s so light!
Could be. Basic inheritance of traits may not be complicated, but expression certainly can be.
