Noodles of '25

A new season and the first little ones are finally free from the egg space!

This little trio hasn’t had their first shed yet. Looks like mom had a couple surprises. Now it’s just trying to figure out if leopard or yellow belly is involved with sandblast or super sandblast here.

All boys

Super pretty babies! I love all the variety, even in a small clutch. I think the high white pied is my favourite. I love when just their heads have colour.

Thanks all. Mom was a high white like that but with a white nose. So it’s cute to have one look so much like her.

What a healthy looking set of eggs! I am new to the hobby and I am looking to start my breeding project soon. Any tips or tricks you may know to help keep eggs look as consistently healthy like the ones above?

These ones are only a few hours old so they’re as fresh as can be. But I definitely would set any eggs up on a platform like they are in my photo, not on the substrate. You can add a little more water to the substrate and keep the humidity up, that’s what is important to keep them plump and happy.
Definitely put some press and seal or plastic wrap over the top before putting the lid on as well.

And as a warning, they will start to deflate as they get within 2 weeks of hatching. So don’t stress on that.

For temps, I’m cooking these guys at 88f. That way if there is a spike of some kind I don’t go over 90.

Thank you so much this is extremely helpful! For the substrate, did you only use vermiculite or did you mix a little bit of something else in there?

I used perlite for this tub. I have used vermiculite as well. Either is fine, but make sure there is no chemicals or fertilizer in them.

Some breeders will even use just a layer of water only, but that’s usually a specially built egg box so the babies can’t accidentally get under the grate into the water

First little one has shed!
57g and this one definitely ended up surprising me when he hatched. That pattern is wild

I’ve eyeballed him a bit and I’m pretty sure what I have is a pastel leopard sandblast possible yb het pied. That’s a bit of a dirty side pattern, so not sure if it’s sb or yb messing it up. There does seem to be some possible yellow that will come in on the tummy.

Which is awesome because Mom was sold as a pewter pied pos sandblast and her parents did have leopard and YB. Just pretty hard to ID in a hatchling with only a headstamp and a couple of eye stripes. Lol

Not a baby update but eventually that will change.

Caught this girl on her first ovy. I was hoping to possibly hatch some VPIs… But I’ve never seen her lock with my het VPI. (Or any of the other girls I paired him with :face_with_diagonal_mouth:) I did however get some good locks out of my pewter sandblast het pied boy. So at least I should see some pieds het VPIs.

I think this girl is trying to trick me. I missed her ovy, but she’s been off food and has been building. She doesn’t quite feel ready to lay but I thought it would be soon. She’s going into blue, so I guess I still have a month for her. I won’t be too surprised if she lays earlier tho. She’s an odd one.

This clutch is starting to climb out. First baby decided to go be a pest and put their sibling into a headlock when they pipped.

So far this clutch has me thinking that mom might not actually have fire and may just be an A++ quality Mojave Coral Glow. I expected more creamy babies not darker ones like these two.

All shed out and soon to be taken out of the incubator. The other two from clutch 1.

I love when they wrap their tail around their head.
Male and 64g.
Pewter pied (probable sandblast pos yb)

The most photogenic baby I have ever been blessed with.
Male and 59g.
Sterling(?) super sandblast het pied (pos yb/Leo). Not sure if Leo is giving those more geometric patterns and super pastel is washing it out or if we’re just a pewter.

Less interesting photo. Better look at the body marks.

And all 3 together~
Being little goobers.

Clutch 2 is halfway out of their eggs. =D

Clutch 2 is out of the egg space~
Not what I expected, but still wonderful little noodles.
Either I had really bad odds and mom didn’t pass on fire in this clutch…or the most likely scenario is she’s not carrying it.
Mom: coral glow Mojave fire het Orange Ghost(hypo)
Dad: super vanilla pastel Desert Ghost het Orange Ghost(hypo)

Now I just need for them to shed out.

First 3 from clutch 2 are shed out~
The coral glow in the middle is looking Orange Ghost hypo to me. They have that clear kinda hazy look to them that the one on the end has.
