NoPe2026 clutch first time weigh-in: tiny babies 😭

Here’s the first weigh-in for Nobara’s and Pesto’s clutch.

All of these babies are tiny :downcast_face_with_sweat: most of my babies hatch out at the 50-60g area with my tiny babies being in the 40’s… I’m super worried about the Paradox baby because she’s only 34g and didn’t fully absorb her yolk.

Hopefully they’ll be able to eat readily for me after their first shed.

Ugh, photos aren’t uploading properly and only showing half the picture. Let me try to mess with it and see if I can get it uploaded properly.

Edit: Fixed

I’m really curious - what temperature do you incubate at? I have genuinely never had a baby smaller than 54g and most of mine are mid-60s-low 70s.

Babies!
When I had one hatch out a little smaller than yours, she was a fussy one. I was assist feeding her for a while before she figured it out on her own finally.

I want to see the paradox on that baby though~ where are you seeing it?

I incubate at 86°F with fluctuations from 85-88.

This is the first time I’ve been majorly worried about a snake clutch though, after the loss of that first baby and the fact that these babies are so tiny

This is what the temp is right now, after opening the incubator and getting the babies into a new bin

Each of the dips is me opening the incubator to let the babies get fresh air

There’s a single spot in between alienheads she has that’s kind of filled in but also speckly, it looks like its eating into one of the alienheads and it’s also got a little bit of yellow in it too but its hard to capture in a picture. I’ll have to get a better photo of it after she sheds.

Update:

The babies are going into blue, I weighed little bit (the paradox girl) and she gained a single gram instead of losing any so it helps me feel bit better. She’s so tiny compared to her brothers and her brother’s are already small :sob:

Thankfully they’re all still lively and I’m really looking forward to getting them eating soon so they’ll put on weight.

That’s a cool marking, it kind of reminds me of the speckled patch near Pesto’s tail (I always called it his QR code)

That’s exactly what I thought when I first saw her paradox patch

On another note- even before their first shed I noticed that Little Bit and the other Lesser look pretty different color wise :face_with_monocle:

The Male Lesser looks a lot like the Pastel Lesser did from Nobara’s first clutch… Little Bit doesn’t have any of the more orange-ish hue near the belly and brown tones all throughout like him. He also has much more intense crown blushing than she does and her little face stripes are more yellow. Overall she appears more pale than he does too…

I remember @t_h_wyman mentioning that Pesto looked a lot like the Carbon Clown Fire from American Royals when he was a baby… I wonder if he does have Fire based on Little Bit’s appearance

Still gotta wait for Pesto to shed again to send off another shed sample for a re-run though, time will tell for sure!

That looks like a paradox marking to my eye. A clearer shot after shed in better lighting will definitely help clarify

I might have shared this picture with you before (I can’t remember), but these are two of Pesto’s clutch mates. Both leopard butters, but one is significantly darker with a solid dorsal stripe, where the lighter has a broken dorsal stripe about halfway down. I never determined if it was natural variation or something extra in there, but it kind of reminded me of the difference between your two

Update for today:

The male Lesser shed yesterday, he took his first meal today

Little bit hasn’t even gone into blue yet, I’m wondering if she’s going to be one of those that skips her “first shed” and keeps her baby shine for a little while. She was a little bit weaker today so I assist fed her after her brother ate, the good news is that she was not fussy about it at all. I had barely got the mouse in her mouth before she just started eating it all by herself :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Here she is with a nice full tummy, hopefully this will help her along- she definitely acted like she was hungry!

And the Banana boy is deep in blue so he was left alone.

Update:

All 3 babies have had their first meals! The Banana boy took a meal right before noon today

Little bit is also finally in blue. Super excited to see her in some fresh skin so I can show off her cute little Paradox spot :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: She’s been much more lively since I did that assist feed, thank goodness!

So awesome that they’ve all taken a meal! Hopefully they continue to thrive from here, can’t wait to see them freshly shed!
