“Normal” Wild types

Does anyone even breed these anymore? I was looking for a wild type female because I love how they look. No morphs. No dwarf blood. Just a normal grow to be huge old school retic. Danged near impossible. Lol Anyone else see the normals eventually being the rarest morph?

There’s a few up on the MorphMarket sales side.
I’m sure you can find more elsewhere, like at a reptile show. Most people just want to sell what’s interesting to others. And sadly normal types tend not to be it when it comes to popular species.

I love my normal phase ball python, but I don’t want to breed them because it’s not worth the trouble for my snakes or for me when trying to feed them. lol

I’ve seen normal retics listed in the MM marketplace, and I saw some for sale at a reptile expo I went to earlier this year, so there definitely are people selling them.

But if you can’t find what you’re looking for right now, you could always try contacting some reputable retic breeders and asking them if they have any normals. It’s possible that they’re just not listing them because they assume there isn’t much demand for them.

I love normal retics. If I ever have the space for mainlands, I’d love to have both a normal (ideally one with lots of yellow and white) and a purple albino. Definitely not the most “cutting edge,” but those are the most beautiful morphs to my eyes.

Man, do I love these. Natural retics have those tomato-red eyes as babies, and then as adults, their skin looks like lacquer. Beautiful animals.

This is exactly what I’ve been saying. Everyone is chasing the quick buck. I have been searching for pure mainlands myself. I want the huge snake that’s the point

Your best bet is looking for someone who does pure locality stuff. I know sulawesi is probably the most popular non dwarf locality, but bali are sometimes bred as well. Or else a morph breeder who “misses the odds” and makes a normal in a clutch where they wanted to make a certain morph combo.
It may also be worth looking at your local classifieds like Craigslist, asking local pet shops or even reptile rescues that might end up with a wild type that a previous owner can’t keep any more but isn’t “desirable” on the market, but be prepared for the snake needing vet care or tlc if it’s previous home wasn’t providing the best care.
