Pairing was fire pinstripe to banana. This is the lone survivor. So I am either not buying a lottery ticket anytime soon, or I get something I want. Is this a fire or normal
ID is significantly easier once hatchlings have shed out and perhaps fed a time or two
It is hard to tell from the lighting and fact that it has yet to shed. It also looks under developed, so don’t get too attached just yet.
Thanks, this clutch has been absolutely devastating. Out of 12, I ended up with 2 surviving eggs, I cut on day 52, the other one died a few weeks ago, and this is the last one. It’s head doesn’t look right.
You might have cut too early. Each clutch is on its own schedule and there’s no way to accurately find when they are going to hatch. I don’t recommend ever cutting but in the future if you decide to cut at least wait until 24 hours after the first pip or the second pip.
Since not many eggs survived was it the female’s first clutch? The first eggs often aren’t all fertile. Were the eggs not fertile or did they die somehow (eg. dehydration or mold)?
7 were slugs, 2 were duds, 1 died early on in incubation, 1 died was fully formed just had no color, then this one is alive. This is mom’s 2nd clutch. Dad’s first. I suspect dad is an issue, as my 2nd clutch he was bred to the mom laid 3 duds, 3 good eggs and it looks like 1 is dying now. Hopefully the banana didn’t father the 2nd clutch And the orange dream did but this clutch is following the same pattern. My incubator is ok, these are not the first clutches in it. I double and triple check my days using the phone. (Type in 55 days from day laid and I do it several times, then do it again before I cut) I cut this clutch because I had a dead baby (egg was green)
Sometimes they hatch with pinheads whether you cut or not. Sometimes they make it and catch up developmentally to the point you won’t be able to distinguish it, but that’s a pretty severe expression. To be blunt, in my experience, those usually don’t thrive. It may though, hopefully it does.
Yea I don’t have much hope for it. It isn’t acting right. My kings are in burmation, so if it doesn’t make it, my friends kings will get it. It’s sad.
Outside of just holding her tongue out at times after a flick’ she seems to be a little stronger, little spicy too. She is deep in shed.
I really don’t know. I am going to keep her and prove her out. She is my only surviving baby. I want to name her Hope but kids named her Ekans. She has lots of flaming up the sides, clear belly’, eye stripe meets lower jaw and she is a head stamp, but the color is off for a fire comparing her to my normal and fire I can argue either way. Anyways she will be with me forever, so even if she proves a normal she will be a special one. I only have 1 surviving egg left and it’s not looking good. Which leads me to thin the banana sired that clutch too. I was hoping the Orange Dream did. If by some miracle this egg survives I might know who sired the clutch (pairing was banana/od and od/od)
What I see there looks like a normal. Pattern, blushing, flames, and headstamp are not right for Fire
Looks like a normal that has a strange pattern due to being premature. Highly doubtful that the appearance of this animal will be genetic.
I think this is spot on! Probably a jungle type pattern from incubation. No fire imo!
She is small. I didn’t weigh her (not sure if I should have ) but guessing around 40 grams. Hope took her first mouse today, almost instantly when I dropped it in. This was the first meal offered. Hopefully she will continue to get stronger. Normal or not she is a special one to me.
