I just fed ome of my ball pythons and noticed some red around the left side of his face. Wanted some opinions before taking him anywhere. He’s not in shed that I can tell, no other discoloration on him, I’m thinking early signs of a skin infection? It wasnt there on Saturday when I last had a good look at him.
I can see red in between the scales, was it just they stretched during feeding, and it’s noticeable because it’s a bel? I think you are right it is not in shed or just starting to go into shed, with my bels it is very easy they get a pink hue all over when in shed. If you want to really verify if something is going on you should do a quarantine. Simple plastic bin, paper towel and a water dish. Nothing else inside and observe it to see if anything changes or other symptoms that something is wrong. I would do this for 4-5 days or so, then if still there without going into shed a vet trip may be in order. Sinuses can clog and the ducts do connect to the eye, but I can’t say if that is the issue or not. Good luck
White snakes have a tendency to show any/every "insult to their skin. This does look like a small degree of irritation/inflammation. From the little I can tell, I suspect your media might be a little too wet and that could be contributing to the appearance. It could also just be from rubbing/bumping stuff.
He got misted down the night before, so its a little wetter than normal, humidity is 72% atm. He’s had some scale issues in the past so I’m always paranoid when I see anything on him. Looks a little better this morning tho, I’ll give him a betadine bath tonight and some topical antibiotics and see how he looks tomorrow
