Thanks thats pretty informative I still do think as others have said that it looks like some fluid building as well. Probably a major combo for things… yes…considering she had major poor care for a year plus…
I checjed her for signs of mouthrot when I 1st got her…xause I actually thought her mouth looked kinda swollen…but she was soaked…shed treated…electriclite too…when she 1st got her…she was dehydrated…but I didnt actually see mouthrot…but doesn’t mean she hasnt had it. Trust me…I checked her & checked her & got personal opinions from friends who know balls. Come over you gotta see this kinda thing!
Curious…you may know…say she has scarring from previous mouth rot blocking her ducts…is there an actual permanent fix…besides having her eyes physically needle drained over & over? Ill save this one for my vet too …do you know?
The duct are like micro…
It’s also possible the cause of her eye condition may be a parasitic infection, so I’d be sure to keep good sterilization and quarantine procedures until she’s seen by a vet.
Yes, they can either do surgery where they remove a bit of tissue to unblock the eye’s ability to drain, or, considering she’s quite possibly totally blind, they may suggest removing the eyes entirely.
Im sure the vet will throw oral anti- inflammatory from the jump…actually… kinda wish I had slightly more knowledge vets closer…taking my Gravid Solomon with dead babies stuck in her …there was a nightmare. Its NOT a actual boa constrictor…kid student…
You may be able to find one by using the ARAV search.
Ive been searching…Ima half to drive just alittle further…
Im looking into Indianapolis…its closer to me than Chicago. UofI is my closest actual snake "surgeon " with last year…they hadnt put a snake under in 6mnth…which scared me…btw. Ashoka…the Solomon…is great & fat & happy now…but it took a long time…
University of Illinois told me Ashoka would die granteed without surgery. I did do the oxytocin & gave her support shots every 3 days for 12 shots…& orals antibiotics…then liquid diet every 5 days force feed for a month. She never had surgery…passed all 42 babies…after a month! Is fine now…amazing actually…eats a small f/t rat everyweek…no fail.
Thanks so much for your info!!
She’s adorable! She may just be near blind, kinda like other albino reptiles who have less stimuli and calm down when albino. She looks older but I agree a very visit is prob a good idea. I am a boa person too but have recently got sucked into BPs after taking in a rescue haha. They are adorable little things, makes sense why they are popular lol. Congratz!
