Pairing Ball Python Scedual

So I just did my first pairing with my two ball pythons on March 29 to 31. I did see a lock. my female is a (Enchi Fire 66% het Clown) and is around 1500g and my male is a (Enchi Pastel het Clown) and is around 800g, and I really hope I can prove out my female with this clutch :slightly_smiling_face:. I have researched about breeding anytime of the year and because I keep my reptile room at 80f all year around it really shouldn’t make a difference what time of year I pair them at.

My question is how often should I pair them? So what I am thinking is to keep them together for about 48 hours and then separate them for 10 days and then pair them back up after that. Also when they are separate I will try to feed them if they will eat. Any input would be nice!

Also before any of you start going crazy the photos I have here are the photos from the breeder when I bought them as yearlings and I don’t agree with him keeping his snakes on aspen shavings. I don’t keep mine on that.

They need to be paired once per month at max. The reproductive process in ball pythons can be quite lengthy - 6 to 8 months sometimes from first pairing to eggs. I would pair them once per month, for 2-3 days or until you see a visual lock, and then separate. During the process the female should want to eat, but sometimes males go off of food. I wouldn’t let your male skip more than one meal - if he doesn’t eat in between pairings, then stop pairing. Breeding can be super rough on the males if they get taxed too much and focus on breeding instead of eating and maintaining their health.

Ok makes sense! so yeah try to keep both on food specifically the male and pair once per month.
