Petsmart didnt know what they were selling me lol! MACK SUPER SNOW!

i walked into a petsmart for some substrate and he walks up to the glass in his tank. he was a purpleish gray color and my first thought was “OMG ITS SO BEAUTIFUL I NEED IT!” so i got it. i looked up his colors and found out that he is a Mack Super Snow, which is a type of leucism in leopard gecko morphs. It was black Friday so he was only 17 dollars. (awesome!!!) I found this humorous.
Is this actually a male?

This happens all the time. The wholesaler will mislabel an animal and send it in and the people working that PetSmart probably have no idea what the morphs are.

I’ve gotten a couple of super snows that way. They are in no way rare. Also as a heads up, they can have breathing issues when poorly bred. So do be careful. The nostrils don’t always form correctly.

Also it isn’t a form of albino. It’s a form of leucism.

Definitely do more research on your gene is the biggest advice I can give.
Also, any animals you produce from this pair would be single gene leopard geckos. Which you might find hard to rehome for more than what you paid for him locally. The leopard gecko market is extremely oversaturated in the US, so something as common as a snow is not really going to sell well.

Ah, thank you sooo much, I had no idea, I’m very new to this and so I definitely appreciate your help! I probably won’t try to breed him because of that issue, but he is still very cool.

Also make sure to quarentine him if you aren’t already, who knows if he could have any germs picked up from the petstore or his life before it, and you don’t want to get your other lizard(s) sick

Looks more like a blizzard then anything, the problem with pet store geckos it could be a mix of everything. Blizzards have the tendency to throw eclipse eyes even without eclipse gene or super snow in the mix which adds more confusion.
So most likely it’s just a blizzard with eclipse eyes (non eclipse) or could be as far as a super snow Murphy patternless or super snow blizzard as less likely

NGL… It’s a bit frustrating when the photo discussed is changed after comments are already made. Especially when posting an entirely different animal.

I agree. If this is the gecko you purchased, it’s a blizzard. When they’re stressed they can display a much darker grey than usual.
Blizzard eyes can be difficult to capture without the correct lighting, so these may not even be solid black pupils. They can just be the dark blue of a regular blizzard.

There’s a lot of yellow showing up on the sides so I don’t think super snow is possible at all. But if there is snow, it would be a single gene. Seeing as there’s no history from the breeder… That’s unlikely.

The pores don’t look defined enough to be a male, but there are some late bloomers and they have a bit more growing to do.

As far as breeding…
Even knowing it’s a blizzard… That means all of you hatchlings will be normal looking babies that are carrying a single copy of the blizzard gene. They’re not worth the female’s energy of trying to breed for either gecko. Especially if you don’t have much experience with handling them and there’s the potential for injury if you miss signed of stress and aggression
