Recently, I moved around my reptile tanks, so now I can no longer use a heat mat on the side of their tank…I switched to a heat lamp. It keeps the inside of the tank the right temp…but my issue is that it makes the top of the tank SUPER hot. Like, just the glass. And only right under the heat bulb. Is there anything I can do to fix that, or keep my geckos from climbing on it?
Can you put the mat under the tank? That’s where mine is……
I can try I don’t know if it’ll keep the tank warm enough though. Through the drainage layer and the substrate
Ok I didn’t know what type of setup you have in the tank……
I am sure someone else will have suggestions…… sorry I couldn’t help you!
If the glass is getting over 95 degrees you need to turn those lamps off. They can burn themselves on the glass.
Since it’s for day geckos you need to have those basking points higher up. I don’t think they would be comfortable using an under tank heat like ground dwelling geckos.
Having the lamps without a screen is very ineffective. I’m not sure how the setup is that’s making it impossible to keep the heat pad on the side but that and a thermostat probe would be better than the lamp the way it is now.
