Pictures of reptiles in the “wild”

I could see my dad doing something similar, since he’d catch snakes to show me. And then I could see my mom dashing out of the house, screaming at the top of her lungs. The poor dear woman was downright phobic about snakes. Dad would definitely have needed a new lunch box, too. Lol

There are several box turtles who visit our yard regularly. We’ve had a lot of rain over the past couple of days, leaving a temporary pool in the ditch. This visitor had a great time in the water. I had a great time watching!

Nothing special, but I see these little guys in my yard frequently. Tend to have to move them when I see them so my dogs don’t mess with them much.

LOL, that is exactly what happened. My mom opened the lunch pail and started screaming. She scared me and I hid in my room until my dad threatened to let the snake go if i didn’t come out, i came out and ended up enjoying keeping the snake for a week before letting it go.

I know that I didn’t get a picture but I caught a decent sized corn snake last night! She was super calm once she treadmilled for bit.

Coolness! I am always extra happy to come across a wild corn. Used to see a lot more snakes around here before the neighboring street got so much more built up.

Tiny jumping spider that was on the wall of my carport yesterday. I see lots of little guys and gals like this inside and immediately outside my apartment. They’re so freaking cute. Sorry the picture quality isn’t great, this one was teeeeeeny tiny. Even in macro mode, my phone camera couldn’t really focus on it.

Every year I see at least 5 of them

Sadly so, that would be why I have lived in the deep south for the last 25 years.

Some people keep tiger salamanders as pets, but if you plan to get one from the wild, I am like, 90% sure it is illegal to collect salamanders in Indiana. Most are endangered or threatened.

Hey, we’re neighbors! I was reading your post thinking, “sounds like my house, and add in the tree frogs who do that.” Then I saw Citronelle! I live in Jackson County, MS.

Sorry, didn’t mean to hijack the thread. Just excited to find a neighbor on here.

That is fine! I don’t consider that hijacking a thread :slightly_smiling_face:.

Timber Rattlesnake hunting frogs by the watertank. Only problem was, it’s just about 10 feet from the front door. Well, guess it helps keep strangers off my porch.:+1:

Gives new meaning to “stay off my lawn!”

What species is that? It looks like a common snapping turtle but I’m not sure.

Have not been able to get out like normal due to work being busy the last year and a half. Here are the few from late last year and the few from this year I was able to get pics of.

Yes, @erie-herps, that is a common snapping turtle. A nice sized one, too! Her carapace was perhaps 14”. This time of year, all the ladies go looking for a nice place to lay their eggs. Curiously, it always seems to be “ the other side of the road”. I bet I help one or two across every year.
