I am much less knowledgeable on cresties than corn snakes as far as genetics goes. I have a kid here whom the speckling pattern does not follow the paternal parents nor grandparents, nor the maternal side.
It was an oddball I initially held back because of its velvety hatch color, but as it has grown the speckles have increased from the back legs and hips forward.
It doesn’t look pixel to me in that pixel disrupts the side pattern but it does not add white like this is. On the other hand it doesn’t look snowflake as those spots tend to increase in size with age not stay tiny white speckles. Is there any other known trait out there doing something like this?
Here are some photos. It’s still young and considering the speckling is gradually increasing with age I didn’t put this up until I had photos of it being really visible. Post hatch photos first dated September 5th, 2025, then photos a yearish later taken June of 2026. Unfortunately he never fired up so I only have him fired in the hatch photos. I’m going to try to get some more photos after they get a sauna today to get the most recent side views.
