Will producers pride whole oats horse feed work to breed mealworms in? It looks like wheat seeds instead of oats like the stuff I’ve been buying. I’m going to tractor supply in a few hours so I’m trying to figure out if this will work.

That product is WHOLE oats, including the undigestible parts (the glumes, rachis, lemna, palea, etc.). You will be left with an absolute mess and you won’t be able to sort mealworms at all afterwards. Will it grow mealworms? Yes, but logistically it will be a very difficult product to work with and you will regret it.

Thanks. I’m going to check at the co-op for some whole oats. Is whole oats best or is there another kind of oats that work better?
I think what @snowgyre meant was you do not want a whole oat product. If memory serves, you want rolled oats for mealworms.
