So we initially got her thinking she was a Nicaraguan to breed with our paradise bci do you think that would be worth it or should we be looking for a different female. This is our paradise male

Basically any boa without lineage information might as well be considered mixed. It’s not necessarily that people meant to mix them, it’s just that taxonomy changed dramatically over the last 25 years and they split species that were previously all lumped together.

As long as you make no effort to misrepresent what they are, it’s generally acceptable to breed for generic “pet” boas.

I will say that the I suspect the mix on your girl is Columbian x Argentine so if you were planning to use Nicaraguan to reduce the overall size, that’s out the window, Argentine’s get fairly large. On the other hand, I’ve never had a Nic that would make as good of a pet as any columbian/columbian mix does. Most of the ‘dwarf’ boas are snotty.

Looks like a single gene/het leopard ,abberrant x central american cross Central american is visible, the rest is just based on seeing alot of sonoran leopards, It could end up just being a pastel line abberrant central american.

100% a central american of some sort, the pattern and coloration is a very popular variant of the cen am, we have close to 20 cen ams currently and can show you animals that look very similar, we also have some cen am het leopards abberrant that are also, very close to this animal in looks.

Curious to see what others see whats the age? its too small to be a BCC just by looking , this animals probably at least 2-3 years old and a BCC would have a fatter tail, this is a BCI tail also its not argentine, the eyes and color are way off to be argentine, although the picture of the eyes here are low res, Take a fresh picture of the face and eyes for more help

In my opinion, I would say a Central American BCI Mexican boa X with an Argentine BCO boa.

BCI = Boa Constrictor Imperator.

BCO = Boa Constrictor Occidentalis.

All morph boas are some type of cross, so I would not worry about your breeding. As long as you tell people what the parents are.

However, none 100% het babies are harder to sell. So I would get your self a albino or sunglow male and female boa and breed them to both of your boas. This way, all your babies will be 100% het albino.

Hypo and jungle would also be good as half the babies would be jungles or hypo, depending on which one you get. Keep in mind that these two morphs there is NO HET jungle or HET hypo. The baby has to be a visual morph of these two.

So we already have a hypo male he’s still a little young unfortunately but I have the opportunity to get one or all of these three girls do you think any of them would be worth breeding to our male

@dj1995d

None of those Kahl Strain albino will work with your male. As he is a paradise boa. So he is het Sharp and het prodigy. Kahl strain of albino is not compatible with Sharp strain albino. You need to find boas that are Sharp albino or het Sharp.

You could sell your male and get a male Kahl albino or sunglow and all those boas.

Do you think he would be worth breeding to a normal at all?

It all depends on your reson for breeding.
If you’re breeding just to make a buck, then the babies won’t really be worth much. And it will take a long time to sell 50% possible het babies. Not many people want them.

If you’re breeding just for the hobby and for yourself, it can be fun. Just make sure you can take care of all the babies. 12 to 50, babies, depending on the female. I average 15 to 20 babies per female. Hopefully, you have friends and family who want a baby boa.

Personally, if I owned him, I would buy a female sharp albino. It’s so much easier to sell 100% het albino.

For many years now, I have only breed 100% het Kahl albinos and sunglows. Never have any trouble selling them.

This year will be my first year since the 90’s that I have made 50% het babies.
I do plan on keeping all the babies as I am trying to make a new boa morph. I may give a few pairs away to friends.( :wink: Riley ) have to see what I get first. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for two good clutch of babies. One will be 50% het albino and one will be 100% het albino.

My possible het babies won’t be worth much now, but when I prove out my new morph in the years to come, they will be worth something at first.
