“Black and White Overnight” indeed. I knew that this girl would fade out over time, especially being a Pastel Banana Pied, but imagine my shock when I lifted her hide and found a dirty white snake in the place of my yellow snake. She was deep in blue, so i thought that maybe it was just a rough shed and that’s why she looked white. It did take her longer to shed out than usual, but here she is, still white. Thought it would neat to share. Also, has anyone done any line breeding with snakes thay both are showing the polygenic axanthicism? I’ve done a little reading around, but not nearly enough. Thanks for checking this out!
That color transition was the result of a SINGLE shed??
Wow that is so interesting, I hope someone with experience in BP genetics can chime in with possible reasons for this dramatic and rapid change!
Sounds like one of Bob Vu’s Blue Hypo Pieds. He sold off the project and then other people working with it haven’t been able to nail down exactly how to reproduce it.
It just happens at random when the snake is over a year old. It tends to pop up in pied lines. A few people think they have something new and it never works out. ![]()
I would love one because the colors are so pretty. But just not in the cards.
You have a really cool little gal there for sure.
If they’re still around @snowgyre would probably know more about it
Yes, one single shed. The little yellow that remained on her head has now faded out to that purple gray as well.
