Pompeii Morph

Hello… I was looking at some videos of ball pythons and came across some of the Pompeii morph. All I can say is, “WOW!.”

You have barely scratched the surface my friend. Justin at JKR is doing some insane work with redstripe, clown, and lavender. You should really check his stuff out

How long does it take to put together a top notch breeding program like that? Amazing. Does he import wild caught from Africa?

I dont believe he does import at the moment but hes been in the business for about 20 years so I’m assuming awhile to put together a team of breeders like that.

Pompeii breakdown

So from scratch.

The Pompeii contains several genes… 5 actually.

Clown - rec
Spotnose - Inc
Red Stripe - inc
Yellowbelly - inc
Black Pastel - inc

So we have just bought our visual snakes and are ready for breeding. We will buy 2 female clowns to make odds easier to work with… So in total we have 6

Year 1 -
First pairings:

Spotnose X Clown = Spotnose het clown

Red Stripe X Clown = Red Stripe het Clown

Yellowbelly X Black Pastel = Yellowbelly Black Pastel

Year 2-
(Babies from last year are not old enough to breed yet)

You can use this year to mix up the pairings from last year and hope for better examples.

Year 3-
(Your baby males from year 1 are now ready too breed, well fed females might be ready aswel)

You can use this year to pair the male babies from year 1 into the project.

Spotnose het Clown X Clown = Spotnose Clown

Red Stripe het Clown X Clown = Red Stripe Clown

Year 4-
(Babies from last year are not old enough to breed yet)

Here you can work your females from year 1 into your plans. If sex ratios didn’t work out for you the year before, this is a second shot.

Year 5-
(Babies from last year are not old enough to breed yet)
If your females from year 3 are up to size then…

Spotnose Clown X Red Stripe Clown = Spotnose Red Stripe Clown

Year 6-
(Babies from last year are not old enough to breed yet)
If sex ratios didn’t work out for you the year before, this is a second shot.

Year 7-

Spotnose Red Stripe Clown X Yellowbelly Black Pastel =
Spotnose Red Stripe Yellowbelly Black Pastel het Clown.

Year 8-
(Babies from last year are not old enough to breed yet)
If sex ratios didn’t work out for you the year before, this is a second shot.

Year 9-

Spotnose Red Stripe Yellowbelly Black Pastel het Clown
X
Clown

=
Spotnose Red Stripe Yellowbelly Black Pastel Clown… Pompeii.

This example is in a world where everything goes perfectly to plan.

The odd of hitting a baby that carry the full set of genes gets slimmer with each pairing.

And we also have to account for sex rations…

The odds of actually reproducing a Pompeii from scratch are stupidly small.

In reality, unless you are the luckiest person on the planet, it’s a 10 - 20 year project.

Luckily now we have combos available of all of these and the more people attempt to follow Justin, the more combos we will see on the market and the cheaper the project will become to buy into.

Just out of chance…
@jkobylka any chance you can tell us your journey to the Pompeii from the moment you envisioned it?

I would love to see a Pompeii batman. I bet Justin has something like that cooking up in his collection somewhere

If I’m right, that would only take adding Leopard.

2% chance from a Batman X Pompeii pairing :scream:
