Pond maintenance

Hey reptile fam!

Id love to gear from anyone who keeps semi-aquatics or ponds for reptiles!

I recently redid my boa enclosure (it turned out great) I added a pond because my boa imperator LOVES water. But im unsure of how to upkeep while keeping him safe. Typically with fishtanks theres nutrients and antibacterial/algea/fungal supplements. However with a snakes weak respitory system im concerned adding these will make him sick! The pond has a filter but im worried that won’t be enough… (Bonus video of my boy enjoying his pond)

Oh my gosh that’s crazy! I didn’t realize boas can like the water like that! Hopefully you will get some advice on your question!

Edit: I suppose if bps can climb then boas can swim!

Awesome setup! It’s cool to see your BCI loves water so much.

My reccomendation is, if you don’t keep any aquatics in there, just do regular water changes. I also don’t reccomend keeping aquatics in the pond generally because if your BCI poops in the water it absolutely will kill the aquatics from ammonia contamination. If algae begins to grow, just scrape and scrub it out of the pond.
