First things first. I was going to set up the babies who were out and I realized that I had a quirky situation. One of the babies whose egg was beneath others in the clump had poked its nose through the egg above it! It had made a slit on the side of its egg, but for some reason it decided that UP was the way to go. Good thing the egg on top was vacant! I remember reading of a baby who pipped into a neighboring egg and didn’t make it out alive. It apparently drowned. I’m thankful that this baby eventually emerged safely.
Here is the first one out. He came right out of the bin and onto my hand! He’s a sweet little (Peach?) Amel Masque. He has a nifty headstamp. I’m going with peach themed names. This is Cling!
Second to emerge is a female Amel Masque. She’s got an awful lot of peachy color, quite orange instead of the usual Amel red. She’s also got very widely split checkers and a cool headstamp. Her name is Freestone.
Have I mentioned that I love peaches???
Elberta is a Fire Masque, also with lots of peachy color. I can’t photograph it well, but golly, I can’t wait until they shed!
Next is the lovely Lulu. She is one who has Peach showing. I thought she was a Fire Masque at first, but she's got checkers. They're very widely split, looking more like a Super Masque, but Amoret isn't Masque unless she's very low expression. Her face doesn't show it. I'll have to take a closer look at her belly tomorrow. Here’s anothet actual Fire Masque, also looking intensely Peachy. He was the last one out overnight. Meet Harvey!
By early evening there were more hatchlings. First in this group was this pretty girl. She’s got a couple of interesting things happening with her pattern here and there. She is SO peachy now. Here’s Fay, a bright (Super?) Peach Amel.
Next is the first Opal to emerge. She’s Opal Masque, but I can’t tell about her Peach status yet. Opals have a lot of peach coloring anyhow. I think she’s gorgeous, although the pics don’t begin to do her justice. Her name is Florida Dawn. Seems quite fitting.
Wow, pipping through two shells?! That egg tooth doing double duty! That’s amazing, I’ve never seen it before. Your hatchlings are beautiful!
I suspect Bonita is Peach Fire or Super Peach Fire. She has very peachy dots all the way down her body between her saddles. If they were pink and I was looking for Red Factor, that would be a strong indication that the snake was a Super RF. It is presently unclear if the same is true for Peach. Maybe this baby can help us figure that out one day.
Isn’t it incredible? There was actually a slit on the side, too. I’ve never seen it before either, nor expected to.
Thanks! I think they’re beautiful, too. I feel very blessed this season. I am thankful!
That baby was certainly meant to be!
I had Rich Hume hypo-lavs in ancient times, and they were very peachy.
Those babies are all so pretty @caryl! What a wonderful clutch of peaches!
Here’s Nectar. All I know for certain is that she’s Masque, she’s got a lot of hard to photograph color, and she’s an active sort after hatching. I can’t tell if she’s a light Amel or a dark Opal. Hopefully it will be more obvious after she’s shed.
Thanks, @caron! They’re even prettier in person. I will work hard to get accurate color images after they shed. @deanai, yes, I believe I remember those of yours. They were lovely!
I. can’t pick a favorite so far.
I love this one. The shade of red is so cool! Like coral. I guess that’s the peach.
This is like trying to pick out a diamond! Too much sparkle all at once!
