Questions about Abronia

I know Abronia can be a bit of a challenge to keep, so if I did get some, it would probably be a couple years down the line, but if I were to keep them, what’s the most forgiving species of Abronia? The two I see most in captivity are graminea and lythrochila, but does this mean they’re the best, or just the most commonly bred? Also, is it 100% necessary to keep Abronia in a screen cage, or can it be done other ways?

Abronia are kind of like chameleons in that they need a pretty good air flow. There are ways to accomplish this without a screen cage but they are a bit more technical than many/most are willing to put the effort in to.

If you want to cut your teeth on something Abronia-“lite”, look into alligator lizards. Bit more robust, bit less finicky
