Hey Folks,
I’m been working on planning out the expansion of the breeding room and figuring out which racks/tubs sizes I’ll need as the collection grows. My goal is to keep the different tub sizes down to a minimum, meaning not having 5 different racks with 5 different tub sizes, and also not spending thousands to do it.
At the moment, I’m planning on having three different tub sizes. For hatchlings I use the Animal Plastics 330 rack and it works well. I am also planning on purchasing the AP 15/18/35S rack for sub-adults (really only using the FB35 tubs unless I run out of space in the hatchling rack before i can get another one). For the next step up I’d love to use the FB40s, but in all my research I can’t find any PVC racks that are suited for the FB40s. The racks from Freedom Breeder and ARS are way more than I want to spend and I tend to prefer PVC for keeping humidity in check a bit better
Does anyone know of any PVC racks suited for the FB40s?
*side note - i do not want to build it myself. I’ve been down that road and not a fan
there isn’t much out there in my experience, which could be considered limited. But you could always commission someone to build them (something I’ve dabbled in, and I love the racks I have with all my heart for a janky as they may seem at first, with some proper care for a wooden rack they work great) It can get costly, to the point depending on how many racks you want + how much you want to spend, but about anyone who works with the right materials could figure out how to build a rack and give you a quote, reptile experience or not. A snake rack is essentially a fancy shelf with trays for heating units and tracks for tubs. Sorry if I just essentially sound like an earworm, but I’m a huge fan of handmade racks myself so I always advocate for them. If you’re worried about the quality, there’s a few companies that make professional made custom racks out there, but I can’t name them off the top of my head. Hopefully someone can chime in to name them!

Check out next level displays, they sell a rack that fits fb40 tubs. You could also email cserpents for a custom request, they made an fb10 rack for me even though they don’t list it on their site.

Hey there. You’re going to have an easier time finding a rack that fits tubs if you go with the V70s, which are about four inches wider. Personally I wouldn’t recommend anything smaller than a V70 for adults, especially not for females. All of my adults are in V70s and tbh they’re much too small, they use all of the space and I’m hoping to upgrade them to boa-size racks once I can afford it. If you decide to use the FB40, I second steelpythons, CSerpents can make custom racks.

I have seen NextLevelDisplays and Cserpents. NLD is expensive in my opinion in comparison to CSerpents and Animal Plastics, especially with using 3/8" PVC in comparison to the other 2 who use 1/2".
CSerpents is slightly more expensive than Animal Plastics but only by like $20 if you take into account that they include tubs with their racks.
I wasn’t aware CSerpents did customs so I’ll definitely reach out to them on that. I had reached out to Animal Plastics and MFD regarding a custom rack and haven’t heard anything back. Its been about a week so I’m guessing that will be a no go.
I’ll follow up when I hear back from them
