Hi all. I’m new to geckos but I have a decades history with other herps.
Ive aquired 2 new crested geckos from the same breeder that both have the same issue. Their fecals smell so strong it coats their enclosures. I believe they have a type of parasite. My other crested geckos do not have this issue. Is their a common parasite in crested geckos?
Im going to have fecal checks done and ill update this thread on what i find.

Pinworms and coccidia are pretty common in reptiles in general from my understanding, and often don’t cause any symptoms unless the animal’s immune system is somehow compromised. Stress in general could also cause intestinal upset which can cause an odour, though that should go away after a while. Good idea to have them checked out since they’re showing symptoms, but I wouldn’t worry too much if they aren’t showing actual signs of sickness. According to my vet, pretty much all reptiles/pets in general have some level of parasites in them, so if they’re acting all good it’s usually fine.

Thanks for the informative reply Autumn. I think it’s coccidia, which is annoying. The 2 new acquisitions are in quarantine now. I hate to allow it to pass on to my first one and any others I acquire in the future if I dont address the issue.
