Rattlesnake bucket shots

Despite how youtube makes it look, keeping venomous snakes isn’t all that glamorous. You look at them, you feed them, you change their water, and you pull them out once a week or so to clean up the poo.

Here are a few of the buzzers during cleaning.

Tbh Don, it would not do much for me to keep them because of the simple facts you stated. I enjoy holding/communing with my animals. Just a visual is not enough for me. However if some folks want to keep them then I say go for it!

Do you keep them for a specific purpose or just to have them? Thank you for the pictures too!:blush:

Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake. They come in a huge range of colors. This one should grow up to be a blue gray color.

Yes! Mostly I just like them, but having them keeps me disciplined for the season where I have to remove and relocate them. They’re also a good teaching aid for training other handlers.

That’s interesting! So you not only have a purpose for keeping them but you have a dual purpose! Good for you Don!. That’s incredible!:heart::+1:

Thats a great point! I’ve never thought about it that way. I could see how easy it could be to become a little too complacent with just handling our mostly very tame captive reptiles, that when they do bite us we think it’s cute or funny! I’ve seen some of your relocation pics, (like the rattlesnakes stuck in deer nets!) and you definitely need all your skills sharp!:+1:
