Hi all. I am holding back this unique male Banana Cinnamon possible Calico 100% Het Pied and I need to buy a female for him for future pairing. Looking for recommendations on what might mix well with these genes to create cool combos? Thanks for the tips!
I’m not a BP breeder, but for questions like these, the experienced BP breeders often ask what your goal animals are:
- What patterns or colors or traits make you the most excited?
- Are you looking for lighter or darker snakes?
From what I’ve heard, making sure you pursue animals that will keep you excited will help you stay in love with the project, even if the economy or market makes animals hard to move
If it were me finding a female to pair to this snake, I would search for something that is atleast visual pied, and probably enchi/super enchi as well, because cinnamon makes very high white pieds and enchi will increase the pattern back to about 50/50. On top of that enchi is allelic to cinnamon and interacts well with it.
Other genes that would work well and are common in pieds are orange dream, yellow belly, and leopard. If you want something darker you could go for blackhead or mahogany.
Genes I would avoid include fire/vanilla and pastel. I don’t think lightening genes work well with banana because you need good contrast for bananas to look their best.
Just here to say that the snake you posted above is gorgeous
I wanted to write a long essay here, but what @cmills said pretty much summed up what I was going to say just focus on what combos you like, do some research on what pairings could work out for you.
