Registry ID?

This is new. How long has it been there and I have been not seeing it before today?

It’s new, not sure when it was introduced but it makes sense to have. This way an individual animal can be traced even if it changes hands.

I don’t disagree with it, I just don’t remember seeing it before today.

They’re adding new features all the time, it’s entirely possible it was just added or made public today.

Yes, I know. I was hoping Brittni or Thomas would respond.

Typically, new features are not announced until the team has been able to run some stringency tests in the live environment and make sure any missed bugs have been worked out. The registry system has not been announced, because it is still in that phase and currently not something anyone needs to concern themselves with

However, I can convey that it is the nothing more than the unique ID that MM has always assigned and used as part of the animal URLs. These IDs are independent of the ones users self-assign and cannot be changed or edited. That unique MM ID is used internally by the system to allow better tracking over time. It is not anything users needs to concern themselves with. Also, that little circled ‘i’ icon is a tool tip you can hover over that explains its purpose

It was simple question. It didn’t warrant so much snark about whether or not I should concern myself with it. I can get all the snark I want (which is actually none) from reddit or social media.

But now that you said it’s the same number that’s found in the URL for the animal, I see that it’s always been there, it’s just not always been displayed on the animal’s listing.

(For the record, THAT was snark)
