So as you probably know, luesistic snakes are prone to having bug eyes. Palmetto from what I understand is a type of leucism making them more prone to enlarged eyes. To make matters worse, all palmettos were derived from one specimen. As they became extremely popular right off the bat, there was loads of inbreeding making the gene pool for them very shallow. People didn’t care if their snake had bug eyes as they wanted to produce them with the lowest cost to them. All those factors lead to bug eyes being very common. Once they are down to the price range most corn snake morphs are then it should become less of an issue as they will be sought after leading to more outcrossing and and better breeding. The big eyes are also much more noticeable when they are young. They won’t “grow out of it” but it will become more normal looking but they will always have them.
Oh wow, I had no idea it was an actual issue! I just noticed on all my pictures that they had jumbo eyes. Yeah hopefully more outcrossing can happen in the future, yikes…
With how quickly there prices have been falling I expect it to be a lot less prevalent within 3-4 years
Doesn’t @logar Logan sound like an expert? In his young age!
I always do forget he’s a youngin’ because he’s always so full of good info!
Omg I love these! Can you make one for hognoses?
I’m finishing up some ball pythons now, so I’ll make a few hoggies next!
Sorry for the spam this evening, but with my tablet pen broken this is my art for the evening
Here are some ball pythons, since I tend to neglect them
OD Pied
Black pastel lesser
VPI axanthic (perhaps an axanthic animal is cheating but hey)
Ivory
Some of the more pale/washed out clown combos (phantom, etc)
Love those! Coincidentally, all my favorite morphs.
I read your mind!
All are beautiful! I love the association with the blood oranges in the first one, very fitting!
I love all of these!!! I think my favourites are the boas and blood pythons…probably because I’m heavily biased in favour of those species.
I’ll throw out a request for some based around Kenyan sand boas! Partly because, once again, I’m biased towards the species I keep, but I also think you could have some fun with them. KSBs have some great colours and morphs.
All three are lovely! The first and second are my favorites!!
heeehehehe I LOVE these little dudes, who gave them GOOGLY EYES??? Honestly I can’t wait to do some moodboards with them and try not to make it look silly because of their peepers
Thank you! I loved the colors and realized there was a lot of fruit/cocktail potential there. I need to think of a pink reptile to try another similar thing, but unfortunately pink isn’t a common color!
These were actually a TON of fun! I had a few minutes before dinner, so here is a normal and an anery!
I don’t look at KSB too often, but those wild type colors totally reminded me of tiger onyx stones!
What about a mwanza flat headed agama? They have some hot pink-ish colors! Or axolotls if you go the amphibian route.
