Reptile Morph Art Series

Normally I do more realistic stuff, but I decided to experiment and do something kinda different this time, I’m decently happy with it, it at least fit the vision I had in my head, might do more if I can muster the motivation, what do y’all think of it?

I LOVE THIS!!
This is genuinely both the most well done and most adorable dino piece I’ve EVER seen!!

Hello friends!
I took a break from digital art while I went home for the holidays. I did sketch the whole time though, so I have lots of foundation for many upcoming pieces.

Here is an ornithelestes, a small little carnivore that was portrayed as a rascally little guy in Walking with Dinosaurs, so my pose and general vibe was inspired by that. Colors based on a blue budgie.

I’m struggling with a vitamin D deficiency while in the middle of finishing up my Master’s research so art might be a bit slow but I have plenty planned to come!

Now I miss my parakeets! Love the art, @cmills . I hope you get that vitamin deficit knocked out soon and feel all better!

Thank you!! Its a relief because apparently vitamin D impacts so much more than I would have guessed and I should feel WAY better soon! Get sun and make sure to eat a varied diet everyone!

Do you take otc supplements or have you been prescribed a script for D? My dermatologist prescribed an injectable vitamin C supplement which is supposed to be more potent but I had a terrible autoimmune skin disorder that occurred after I started the shots so I quit.

Just OTC unfortunately, which could take MONTHS to raise my levels noticably enough to make me feel better
At least its nice to find a possible source for things like random weight gain and high bp but ahhhhhg

Here is a Xiphactinus, a giant ancient fish with one heck of a mean bulldog face. I based him on an arapaima, a modern river monster with a pouty mouth!

Hope you feel better sooner than expected.

Cool ancient fish art! Freaking amazing modern fish, too!

There are golden morph arapaima too if I’m remembering correctly, might be thinking arowana, both super cool fish to look at!!

Hope you feel better soon. Love the new fish! And I love the colour scheme.

I know arowana come in a golden colour form…but I honestly don’t know about arapaima. I feel like I’ve only seen arapaima in the colours you posted, but I could be wrong. I sometimes get those two species mixed up. They’re both freshwater fish that get huge, come from the same part of the world (I think?), and have really similar-sounding names. And I think they’re both air breathers as well? So yeah, I get them mixed up, go figure. :joy:

Same here, just two big ole pouty mouth fish to me :joy: :joy:

I think arowana are one of those fish that will shoot jets of water at prey on the surface to knock it into the water, so I try to remember that arowana kinda sounds like arrow, therefore the arowana is the fish that shoots water arrows.

And the arapaima…sounds less like arrow, therefore arapaima is the fish that does not shoot water arrows. :person_shrugging::joy:

Perfect, that’s the exact sort of goofy mental gymnastics I use every day :joy: :joy:

Ya girl immediately caught COVID off of public transit once the semester started, so I’ve been basically laying on the floor for 10 days.
Improving though, so here comes some art! I think the unintentional total art break helped actually because this is my FAVORITE PIECE I’VE EVER DONE

atopodentatus - a VERY silly little guy with a funny shaped mouth for sifting through sand and crunching mollusks

I’ve based mine on the following marbled newts:

I LOVE IT!!

(Which is a full, complete sentence in the English language, MorphMarket. Stop telling me otherwise and refusing to post it.)

Thank you!! I’m so pleased with this little goober it isn’t even funny

Oh my lord it’s eyes somehow look both vacant and like it knows 1000 secrets at the same time. Also, for some reason, I thought that the more realistic painting was your drawing at first, and I was like “man, real change in art style, but looks good”
