Reptilink new options

Hello all i got a food related question.
I have a sweet cornsnake that I transitioned to quail reptilinks after he regurged a mouse and he has been doing fantastic since. He has no issues taking his links and I’m happy that he seems to have a better feeding response with them than the mice I was getting locally.

I had a question for everyone if it was okay to offer him different options such as a reptilink then a mouse or if I get multiple reptilink blends? Recently they have now quail and rabbit and ones fortified with quail egg which seemed nice. I was not sure if snakes like options or consistency. If it’s better for him to have mice what are cut so it’s easier to digest it then I can do that too. Just whatever is best for my buddy.

Thank you so much!

If your snake is willing to eat different things, go for it. In the wild they’d have different prey types, variety is actually a good thing!

The important thing is making sure he eats consistently. Variety is great though! If he’ll take them and they’re a proper size, let him.

Some snakes like ball pythons can be notoriously picky. Sometimes they just get hooked on a prey type and that’s all they ever want. If that is the case then just be prepared if he wants to just eat more of one type.
As a heads up, some foods can affect them differently when digesting. Fish for example can lead to smellier or messy poops in garter snakes compared to ones eating small rodents. So if the stools look a bit odd that may be something to consider as well.

Obviously, if there do seem to be any ill effects, do consider avoiding that particular type of item.

Thank you so much! That’s what I thought but just wanted to get feedback from others since it’s my first cornsnake. I’m planning to offer a quail egg for its birthday too.

Thank you so very much for the info. He has been super consistent since the reptilinks but I keep backup mice just in case. I’ll grab the two “flavors” so he has some variety then.
That’s how I thought he might like the links more since his movements were more solid and he was more active post meal almost like it was easier for him to digest.

It is completely fine to mix up the different links. If you are feeling really crazy you can even do the ones that have veg in them (because if you think about it, in the wild their prey are likely to have vegetable matter in their guts)

Thank you! I have read of gut loading feeders so they get more antioxidants so that’s the idea I’m coming from. I did offer a hopper last feed and it’s a lot more work for him to eat so I’m gonna see how his movement is but I’m sticking to the reptilinks for the future. He doesn’t even need them scented lol.
