Reticulated x ball python

New to snake breeding and i have a genuine question. I have a male lavender albino reticulated python and a female ball python. Both are breeding age and size so heres my question. Can the 2 breed and have viable offspring? I know retics and boas can breed same witb ball and blood pythons, but what about the retic and ball python?

I’m not going to be much help, but I am like 99% certain boas cannot breed with other pythons species. I think you meant Burmese pythons, which can interbreed.
I feel like I’ve heard of crossbreeding, but I can’t imagine it would be easy under any circumstances

I know bloods can cross with balls (super balls), but I have no idea if burms or retics can cross with balls.
Even if they can, what’s the goal there? Are you aiming for a specific project, have a particular market in mind?
I only ask since the ball market is super saturated and moving hybrids (especially ones that could get huge) can be even more difficult since they aren’t usually seen as ‘useful’ for breeding projects and the market is fairly averse to hybrids overall

Boas are not able to breed with retics. Are you thinking of Burm(ese pythons)?
For retic and ball…The hybrid is called a Baltic. It is possible, but I can’t think of any reason to do it.

It feels like bad husbandry. I don’t know if there’s any actual science done on hybrids like that, so I can’t tell you if there are any issues like heart problems in Ligers.
The ball market is so oversaturated. Retic market isn’t far off. Hybrids are usually one of those things people seem to want because “it’s cool” and don’t think of the issues that animal can cause down the line. Also, I can’t imagine anyone wanting the uncertainty of an animal that might stay small but also may be over 12 feet.

Colubrid lines have been hybrid and that can be a mess. And the reason for some of that was to try to produce a Mexican black king without having access to the second MBK. It’s extremely frustrating to try and preserve locality lines or species when they’re being crossbred for a particular gene.

Its just something im curious about, and if i haf any successful babies, they’d be staying with me

You could very well end up with a Lot of babies to care for so be careful what you wish

Yes I understand that fully. Im not 100% sure I’ll pair the 2, just curious

NERD made retic x ball hybrids maybe a decade ago. They called them “Balltics” or something like that. Not particularly impressive looking animals, but I am not really a hybrid guy so…

So, yes, it is possible. Whether it is probable that you can pull it off may be another thing. NERD has always been cagey when it comes to open conversations so no one knows how long they tried and how many failures they had. I also recall only two or three offspring being shown so viability may be low.

Its best you don’t cross breed those two because breeding two species of different terrains and heat and humidity is almost never a good idea. But it is posable for burms and balls to breed, so your question is probably posable. Just please do not do it though.
