Awesome!
And eating, too!

Wow! What a major improvement. It is truly remarkable what you’ve been willing to do for this snake’s life.

I think she does know. She is angelic. She always comes to my face and flicks her tongue on my nose lol and she is so calm. She just lets me do whatever. She barely flinches when its time for her shot. It really amazes me how gentle she is

She’s probably thinking that very same thing about you!:heart:

Gosh, no kidding! I do think animals—even reptiles—must sense the love and care we give them.

Update! Eleven did not eat last week because she was in shed again. Today was feeding day for my baby boa, so i put the rat pup in the bag with my boa’s mouse to thaw and also when i was heating them in water. SHE TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY!!! I was so happy! I definitely can’t go any bigger than the rat pup at this time, but maybe the rats will get her weight up a little. Hopefully the mouse strike is over lol Thanks for all your advice and encouragement!

The shed cycle for an injured snake speeds up dramatically until the skin properly heals. So don’t be too worried if she goes into another one in a couple of weeks.
Once the wounds are healed over she should slow down to a more normal cycle while the scars knit the skin together better.

I have great news guys! I took Eleven back for another check up today and the vet has released her! No more shots! Just have to keep doing betadine soaks and keep her on paper bedding a bit longer. She took her rat pup Wednesday with no problems and no added mouse smell lol she struck and wrapped it and everything. She is doing so well. The vet debrided her belly today and I will post a picture. The tissue looks pink and healthy underneath. She has gained a little bit of weight back, too. I can seriously not thank you all enough for helping me help this little angel. And to top it all off, the vet didn’t even charge me today. I was sobbing in the car on tje way home. Thank you all so, so much. I will still keep updating the post as she continues to heal!

Wow @rxwitch! My heart is incredibly warmed by your update. Miss Eleven is undoubtedly the luckiest ball python on this earth right now! I am so so happy for her and for you! I have a feeling that your vet is feeling the same way inside! The “no charge” is evidence of that I’m sure!

She’s looking so much better! Trust me I know how mush of a process this is.
She’s still probably going to stay on an accelerated shed cycle until the red areas are healed over. So don’t be too surprised.

That’s great that she’s taking good food for you too. All the more to heal up better.
Thank you again for being so good to this girl on her healing

You guys are so awesome! The vet did also say that she is going to lose the very tip of her tail. It’s already hard so it will probably fall off soon. But she will be alive and otherwise healthy. When I got her out of her soak today, she came right to my face and booped my nose like always lol she is just the best girl.

Aww, yay! I’m so glad this sweet girl finally found her way to someone who has the patience and compassion to get her through this crisis, and I’m so glad that she’s healing so well! I’m honestly shocked she’s eating so well. How often do we hear about healthy ball pythons refusing food? :joy: So it’s awesome that she’s eating, and that’s exciting that she’s done with her shots!

Eleven finally pooped yesterday! Like an actual big poop! I’ve had her almost 3 months and she finally pooped! Yay!

Every now and then i pop into this thread to see how things are going and i could not be happier. :face_holding_back_tears: aah! Yay! Lil baby is pulling through! UHG. Congratulations, both of you. I understand how tough recovery from this level of injury is. Constant expensive vet appointments and traumatizing shots and special medical care requirements that demand heavy monitoring and never really being able to let them have their space for a couple of days to decompress, worrying about if they’re going to starve themselves to death, poking, prodding, soaking, driving, money, vets, repeat. It is a LOT. Massive kudos to you for sticking with it. I know you two are going to have a wonderful pet/parent relationship once this is all over.

It is absolutely so refreshing to see a recovery journey like this one :face_holding_back_tears:

I’m so glad that she’s making a impactful recovery despite the odds that were set against her with that wound. You both still have a long road ahead and I pray it continues to go so well

The wound may still look gnarly but its absolutely healing!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that Eleven is still doing great! She was 420g when I got her, then went down to like 405g, and now she is 438! She is gaining weight! I’m so happy! I will post a couple pictures, too. I tried to get one of me kissing her head but she was camera shy :joy: she would only come out of her ball when I put my phone down on the table! I think she will be ready to put back on regular bedding soon. She still just had a couple very small scabby areas. Thank you all again for all your support!
