Hello… I’m sure this question has been asked a bunch. Can anyone recommend a sealant for hardwood for ball pythons? I want something safe, non-toxic, obviously. I’m pretty good with my hands, and have built numerous enclosures. Never did hardwood and sealed it. Anyone have any experience?
All you’ll need is a sealant that conforms to these tiers of pet approved quality and you should* be ok
- 1Conforms to CDPH 01350 (VOC emissions test taken at 14 days).
- 2No traditional paint (polyurethane) odor, which can cause headaches, nausea, and respiratory issues.
- 3Conforms to ASTMD-4236, specifically concerning oral toxicity, skin irritation and respiratory effects.
Essentially VOC free/non-toxic/eco-friendly products should be fine, products like this…

Thanks you. I got some sphagnum and veggie bags. Target had the veggie bags.
A few months back, Morelia Python Radio did an episode where they discussed cage building and they mentioned some specific sealants. You might want to track that down
