I have a couple ball pythons that I no longer need, since my breeding plans have changed. We have a reptile expo coming in 2 weeks to my city (Greenville, SC), and I was wondering about how to sell as a simple attendee (non-vendor). I know that gun and coin shows allow you to bring in your personal collection to offer for sale to the various vendors, but I’m not sure about the policies / etiquette for ball pythons and reptile expos. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Chris
PS — Would it be best to simply sell and ship via MorphMarket ?
My advice would be to contact the owner of the show. A lot of shows for reptiles don’t allow people to bring in outside animals to sell/trade without being a vendor.
I’d personally list them on Mm, and go from there. Could also try to do this via Craigslist, which can be a hit or a miss depending on your area.
Most of the time that isnt allowed, at least at my local shows and people have been banned from the show for doing it. Do you have a friend vending that you can pitch in for table space? If not you will have to get a vender table.
If people could just sell without paying for a table, expos couldn’t operate.
I agree with @nswilkerson1 I have never heard of a show allowing a non vender to sell, they sell by table spaces or per vender at any expo that I know of. Also I have shared a table before, when I just had a handful such as @nikkip suggested. You may want to try local pet shops or as already mentioned Craigslist, if you are uncomfortable shipping or using MM.
Agree with banereptiles if you have a nice local reptile shop, sometimes they will buy what you have at wholesale if a show is coming up. Usually they have you drop an email with info to the owner or person in charge of animal inventory.
