Welp. I’m at a loss. The 4 high white babies tested negative for black pastel, Barnhart BP, and cinnamon. Two tested negative for Leopard.
Mom is the only one I don’t know background because she came from a teacher. Surely the odds of normal Pieds turning out like this wouldn’t hit in the same clutch so something has to be going on, especially since I got regular looking ones. RGI mentioned an unproven 4th BP line and I’m waiting for the Mahogany test for another girl.
Each baby has 2 photos since 3 of 4 have split faces and I labeled each photo.

Did you consider getting the full BlkPastel complex test to check against all the alleles in that group? Because some of the others also generate high-white Pieds
Do you have any info on the pairing that produced the male? Mom is definitely the biggest question mark since she was listed as possible Blk pastel. the paradox on the male can still be a possiblity albeit very small. (Travis can definitely correct me if I’m wrong on that)

There is that one line of Blk Pastel that iirc has occured in Canada most often.
You can still find high white examples in other complexes as well. I’ve seen a good amount of Mojave or gravel Pieds with high white. So even if you tested the 8ball complex there could be something else hiding.
RGI. I tested for 3 of the 8 recognized and they only have 3 more available, but didn’t have them listed as a complex test. I’ll have to panel mom this time to make it easier (and cheaper), I just tried the two most likely on the babies since they already have their samples.
The male is from Pastel Leopard Spark x h Pied and tested negative for Spark since he was sold as possible.
I was hoping some input suggestions would help narrow down what I should test her for since not everything from 8 Ball is in the big panel I’ve been digging through combo examples and I’d been sure they were Cinnamon instead of BP since they was so interchangeably used, but when they all came back negative I didn’t want to randomly throw money again.
There is for sure at least one other line of Black Pastel that no one can test for yet. Hopefully one of us will nail it down before too long, several of us have been working on it for awhile now. Anyway, once we have that test, we will run yours again for free for that new test. So keep an eye on our announcements and once we have that you can get yours run again for free for that new test.
As far as what else to run it for right now, the 45 morph panel that I believe you already ran contained all the tests I would have suggested for right now. As we get more 8 ball complex tests completed, those would be good to have run. We will hopefully have more from the 8 ball complex over the next month or two, and may include that final Black Pastel test
