Shipping questions

Did you do a hold for pickup at the hub? At mine, I have to wait until the carrier brings the animal to the hub where one of the employees will sign for it, almost like they’re the ones picking up the animal.

Here’s hoping it’s nothing nefarious going on and your boa made it to his destination safe and sound!

The hub must have mistakingly scanned out my delivery to someone else. A different name showed and then the app updated to a new layout ive not seen and stated the package was ready for pickup. Needless to say i started freaking out and messaging the buyer and adding unnecessary stress to his day. Then, 30 minutes later the tracker updated and showed it had been picked up by the correct person. Been over an hour now and still waiting for an update to confirm they got the correct shipment. Ughhh!!

Buyer finally reaponded. Snake arrived safe and sound!

However, hes now telling me its covered in mites. I know for sure neither him or anyone else in my collection has mites! I literally check them all the time and handled him for a long time before boxing him up. Theres no way possible it has mites.

Has anyone shipped or had anything shipped and it got mites during the shipment?

Can the buyer provide photo evidence of mites on the snake? I’d start there to get a positive ID, if you’re absolutely sure it couldnt have come from you. People sometimes see speckles and panic, after all - how many times have we seen those threads on here?

@emfraise has a good point. I thought one of my corns had mites. Turns out it was just coloration……

Im a stickler for checking my snakes weekly for mites. I know breeders that have lost entire collections from those little suckers, and i cant risk that. Plus hes solid black and would have to be pretty infested to clearly see them on him. This would have been something i would have easily noticed while i was handling him and packing him up.

Oddly, the buyer doesnt have photos but insists on soaking him today and again tomorrow! What saddens me is he may have been next to other reptiles that were shipped with infestations. Or, they were loaded next to materials that could have had the mites. IF he does have mites, he got them from shipping and that makes me nervous. But, its one of the risks you take sending live animals through system.

He is already in love with the snake and thats what counts. Hes not pushing for a refund or compensation. I just hope he doesnt leave anything negative in his review. I dont want proper care to ever be a concern with any snakes i sell!

Thank you for everyones input and staying with me through the ride!

Side note, heres pics of the youngsters i got today! One was soaked in urates, but both were unharmed and mite free! Big shout to Gunlock Genetics for hooking me up these beauties!
