You’ve got to post pictures when you get them!
Yep! We would love some pictures!
I just looked up the Thai Spiky and they are so much cheaper than when I last checked
A few of our newer projects that haven’t been made available to the public yet:
Nice! I need to get myself some P. werneri.
I am receiving some A. klugii ‘Montenegro’ soon and I am super excited for them.
A. gestroi is 100% my favorite Armadillidium ever.
The P werneri are among my all-time favorites; I was so excited to get ahold of them. Montenegro are really nice too, but I think they are too similar to the Dubrovnik for me to get them. I would, however, like to get my hands on some Red Dubrovnik.
My goodness, it is gorgeous!
Same here! Have you got mancae from yours yet? I’m really hoping to get some from mine soon!
I think my business partner said she saw like one baby in there. They are pretty slow breeders and we haven’t had them that long.
I’ve heard they’re seasonal breeders and that spring is usually when you start getting mancae. So maybe we’ll both start seeing babies here soon!
That’s the plan! We will probably hold back most or all of the first generation since we started with only 5 individuals.
Yep, they are seasonal so shouldn’t be long considering that Spring and Summer are coming quick
I’ve got to get some magic potions! Do you know if yours are the American or Japanese line?
Yes, these are Magic Potion “USA”.
Ok cool! that’s what I was guessing!
Picked up a new colony of isopods, the Porcellio spinicornis, commonly called the Brickwork Woodlouse. Very pretty little guys of European origin, I believe.
Over the weekend I got a couple new species. Dairy cows and panda kings. I wasn’t planning to get the pandas but I found a colony for $30 so I had to get them. One of my mantises refused a mealworm (hopefully he goes into molt) so I put the two halves in with the dairy cows and within seconds two isopods took both halves.
When collecting species like rubber duckies and panda kings how do you collect them? Do you put food in there and since they burrow will they come up or do you have to dig for them?
Generally with time you will see them on the surface more often. If you find that they stay burrowed, a good misting will bring them up. (Just not enough to flood the holes!)
Congrats on the new isopods! Hope they do well for you
I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to post some of the other isopods I got this week. This is a few of them.
A. macculatum “color mix”
