Omg that is a lot of Magic potions. Looks like they’ve done well for you lately?
I went to an expo this weekend and picked up a few cultures!
Cubaris sp. “Red Edge”
Armadillidium granulatum (does anyone know if these have a common name?)
And lastly, Porcellio bolivari. I traded some of my pak chongs for them, which was pretty cool!
Every time i look there is more haha, i water them once a week, so this was the day after “rain day”, so they were hanging out closer to the surface. Unfortunately theres about 2 oranges, and 1 ghestroi who broke in, they are too young for me to safely remove atm, so gotta wait for them to grow up a bit more.
My pandas are the last im waiting on to have a population boom, they have had babies, but it hasnt gone up a large amount yet.
Haha I do remember the thread you made off of that topic. I really gotta try “Rain day” some time with my MPs.
Granulated isopod. Not a super exciting common name, but A. granulatum is really beautiful. In my opinion though, A. gestroi surpasses their beauty by a tiny bit. I like the way they “shine”. Also closely followed by A. klugii.
Congrats on the P. bolivari! Mine were a victim of my recent die-off. I believed I had cracked the well-kept secret code to their husbandry needs, as I got upwards of 75-100 mancae in each brood consistently. I believe you can see the absolute abundance of juveniles I had in the “banner” picture in my profile page. Even this was a very small percentage of the full population. They are normally thought to be difficult to breed and very prone to die-offs (even more than that of Cubaris sp. or P. magnificus.) but for me they were very forgiving and very prolific.
They are absolutely stunning, and there are definitely no look-alikes to this beauty (Other that the possible subspecies: Porcellio (bolivari) nickelsi which is orange.)
…
That is why they are my profile picture and I use their pictures everywhere else as a desktop background, etc. When I upload it to here, it unfortunately degrades the quality of the photos, though.
I agree I hope to get some of those eventually.
Thank you! I’m really excited about them, I had an empty acrylic display enclosure that can’t keep enough moisture in for other species. So I figured these should do great!
Yaaaaaaayyyy!! That is amazing! Best of luck with the new mancae! Hopefully you have a bustling colony of thousands very soon
Hopefully Haha I’m really so excited! I’ve been on the lookout for mancae for weeks!
Dang lol
Update… i underestimated how many were hiding in the soil. This is about half of them i could find the day after “rain day”
oh wow, that’s awesome!
That is a good amount of Gestrois! Nice size to some of them, too. For me it seems that mine will just keep growing for the next couple eternities before breeding
You also have lots here! I miss my Dairy cows
Its the power of carrots! Haha. On a serious note, they are thriving to the point of insanity haha. Almost makes me wish i just bred isopods instead of investing in all the equipment and animals for snake breeding. Seems like a cheaper and faster turn around haha. Too late now though i suppose xD. Plus i do enjoy having so many unique animals
Just moved my dairy cows to a tub. Im iffy about having them with one of my pythons, i think ill try it on a provisional basis with daily checkups, and an adult snake. I dont think they can hurt it, but the buggers love protein, so it doesnt hurt to be safe. Definitely wont be a scaleless going in with them. Id say i have about 50 of them so far.
What a flex
But that is seriously amazing! Gestroi is definitely my #1 favorite Armadillidium of all time. (along with A. kluggi as close 2nd) I love the isopods with really high contrast. The deep black of gestroi really makes the yellow pop like no other Really kudos to you to figuring out how they work best.
Man I really gotta try rainy days inside my isopod bins some time.
They have an imposter among them
I needed this, i had to deal with suicidal zebras, something had to pick up the slack xD.
