Signs they have bred?

Hi! This is the first time I have bred snakes and I have brumated a male and 2 females. There was another male but I took him out of brumation after about 2 weeks because he didn’t seem to be doing well at all. He’s fine now.

I have introduced the male to one of the females and they’re very interested in each other. Whenever I look he’s lying on top of her or trying to wrap himself around her, but I haven’t seen a lock?

Does it take them a while to figure out what to do for their first time? Or is it likely they have mated and I just haven’t seen it happen?

Are there any signs besides seeing a lock that could indicate they have mated?

They have been together 3 days so far.

Thanks so much!

I would be really careful about how long they’re left together.

If he’s no longer wrapping around her I would take him out. Hognoses can cannibalize.
They could possibly have locked while you weren’t peeking. Some are really sneaky and get the job done…but if they’re young and one or the other isn’t ready they may not figure it out.
