I just left a local Repticon event hoping to find a new Burm or CB Argentine tegu. I found the Burm that I wanted and asked the breeder to see him. As soon as he handed it to me, mites started crawling in my hand. I used hand sanitizer and also washed my hands with soap and water. Is there any risk that I might bring them home with me? I’ve never had mites and really don’t want to introduce them to my collection.

Yes there is, when you get home strip down put your cloth in the washer, take a shower and wash your hair, avoid direct contact with your collection for 24 hours.
I do that everytime I go to a show even though I never touch any animal.
