Solar Serpents breeding plans for 2025

She’s got her pince-nez, and she’s ready for a night at the opera or theater!

Oh my goodness Olivia! What a unique little baby with those cute little spectacles!

Which reminds me: Did you hear about the optometrist who fell into the eyeglass grinder? He made a “spectacle” of himself!

Olivia should name her Julia Roberts. :joy::joy:

This girl is insane. No idea why she’s so red. It’s making me think one of her parents must be red factor. I love her head pattern too. Betelgeuse:

Updated pics of Lyra, female palmetto. She’s a really nice girl. Getting lots of spots.

Thanks! She is really sweet! All the palmettos are actually really nice babies, which is such a plus, in my opinion.

Even her ground and the ground on her head are super red. It’s just easy to overlook because the saddles are so saturated.

Looks life Betegeuse is RF, agreed! She reminds me of a few of the reddest RF Strawberry babies from 2024. It showed right away and kept getting brighter. She’s lovely!

I’m glad you’ve gotten nice Palmettos, in both senses of the word. I agree that this is an important thing. Gotta say, although the Palmettos I bought are quite beautiful, they are still not the sweethearts I prefer. The pair I kept are handleable now, and one can change their water or spot clean without either being eaten or having them shoot out of the bin and head for the hills. These are definite improvements from when I got them, lol, but I don’t think they’ll ever be total sweethearts.

Betelgeuse is so intensely colored it reminds me of Kastanie. Of course, that’s too rare a gene to pop up randomly, so it’s much more likely to be red factor. But WOW she’s a stunner whatever it is.

@solarserpents I’m happy your palmettos are sweet. @caryl sorry yours are stinkers. Most of mine (5 keepers and 6 babies over the years) have been sweet like Olivia’s but I have seen some spice in a couple of my babies this year. I do wonder what contributes to individual personalities, and if there are gene-related attitudes. I’ve heard (and experienced) sunkissed corns are known for their…let’s call it “spunk,” to be polite  I wonder if palmetto has personality tied to it, too. If they do, I’d guess yours will grow into sweeties because all my adults have been.

Can’t believe these babies are already established and ready to go. Time flies! Snap, Krackle, and Pop, shatters.

I really like them all for different reasons! I love Snap’s perfect dashes, Krackle’s head pattern, and Pop’s messy, zigzaggy body pattern.

And a quick pic of this super dark girl, Hydra. She’s my favorite of the normals. I do think she must be red factor or something. And since there is also that extremely red amel in this clutch, I think it points to something genetic and not just random normal variation.

Hydra’s saddles are so unique! Pretty girl.

Snap, Crackle, and Pop look like they’ve had a great start!

Yeah, I’d be happy with any or all of these three!
