I always have a hard time knowing what morphs are mixed with pieds! how did you know the one pied was pastel pied, and the other was normal pied?

Thanks!

Well actually the mid white pied I am still on the fence they both could be pastel, I will get some better pics just trying to leave them alone to eat, but usually pastels get a brighter orange color around their patches of pattern. With the hi white ones, the het red ax gene is in the black pastel complex, which tends to make more high white pieds and then the bright orange saddle and a little orange around the neck is pastel looking to me. Also a weird thing about pastel pieds is that they usually get a light brown head stamp as do regular pieds, but not a washed out or blushing pastel like head a lot of the time.

wow awesome, thanks for this info! had no idea. I’ll be working with black pastel relatively soon so I’ll keep that in mind! I also have a girl with pastel right now, too. appreciate the info!

8 eggs from a first time mom is awesome, congrats! I had a first time mom (ultramel) give me 8 this season as well.

I’m not sure I see pastel in any of those animals which is kinda weird with an 8 egg clutch.

Ya you could be right, I just snapped a few pics last night and am trying to feed now. 3 have eaten, so far! But I definitely know the genetics having produced both snakes over multiple generations, sometimes the odds gods roll don’t go in your favor! It’s ok I will take them!
