So one of my girls just layed some of the ugliest eggs i have ever seen they do all have veins but look transluciant. Any idea what went wrong
Sometimes spots of translucency are from being in too high of humidity or having water sitting on them. I don’t know if this would cause the entire egg to be translucent or not but it’s a possibility.
As above,
but if they are freshly laid as you say and you found them fast and not left in too wet environment before you found them,
Then I have just a suggestion that others are welcome to dismiss.
It could be a calcium or other calcium absorption vitamin deficiency (e.g D) in the food item,
or even if the she is a first time mother, a deficiency in the mothers ability to absorb relevant Vitamins and/or minerals.
These eggs where just laid
I honestly think its something like this cause all my other clutches from other females are fine. And it could just be her because 2 years ago last time she was bred she had similar issues but i didnt even think of that untill now
Not sure about snakes but in humans a problem absorbing nutrients can be genetic defect, birth defect, gut bacterial issues, injury to gut, age, parasites and many more. There are plenty of reasons.
If she has done this before maybe as you say and your other females have not, she either needs medical scrutiny or maybe and more likely she will never be the best breeder female what ever you do?
Still, it does not necessarily mean the eggs or some will not hatch with care.
If there isn’t a medical solution, I wouldn’t hold back any for future breeding though.
Looks to me like a calcification issue as said by @ascended. Generally suggests either a calcium deficiency or an issue with the shell gland. Is this an acquired animal or one that has been in your collection since birth? I’d consider having a vet do a fecal analysis if this is an animal you brought in to your collection, as common causes of vitamin/mineral deficiency are either poor nutrition or parasite loads. If you’d rather forego that, perhaps try dusting her feeders with a calcium supplement during breeding season and see if that makes any difference for future clutches.
Will try the vet thing and she was aquirred as a adult breeder back in 2019
